Background on Grace

Many readers have mentioned that they feel they know Grace. That's great! She's flawed but one of the most sincere people who would do just about anything for a friend. One of the most challenging aspects of writing her character was moving her along in the story from victim to self-absorbed champion to empowered leader.  And that contrasted so much with Peter's character arc.  Yet if you haven't read the book I don't want to give away any more about Peter's character.

There were some pivotal transitions in the book that kinda created those 'aha' moments (at least they did for me ... as the author :). One of the smallest, or most subtle, was when Grace let go of her sister's ashes. If you think about it - those ashes haunted her, so to speak, for fifteen years - that is a really long time to be holding onto something, or hiding behind it.

One of the pronounced pivots was that initial lunch Grace had with Lucille after leaving Finedale. She worships this woman and so, so much is revealed.

The book is launched!

Today - October 20th, is the day the book, Crushed, is released by Amazon.  And the Kindle version is free for the first two days! Click here if you'd like to pick up a copy.

I decided to offer it for free at the time of launch so more people will get a chance to read it.

Here is one of my favorite quotes from one of my pre-launch readers:

"I truly loved it! I even cried when Grace ran to see her mom in the hospital. It was a very believable book, it was fun, it had flare, awesome sex, mystery, and twists...a very enjoyable read!" Sue R.

Naming the book, Crushed

Many early readers have asked me how I came up with the title of Crushed for the novel. Well, it didn't always have that title.  There were three others, in particular, that I used as working titles during the duration of writing the book.  Want to know what they were?

I don't want to give anything away if you haven't read the novel yet.  So you can CLICK HERE to find out what the other names were and the reasoning behind each of them, including CRUSHED. But you'll have to answer a question as the Password to get into the page based on reading the whole novel. Ha ha. If you've read the whole thing this will be easy.

Book Launch

Welcome! I am very excited about releasing my novel - Crushed, on October 20th! I have lived with these characters for a long time so it'll be nice to get the story out there in the world.

Of all the characters I think my favorite one to write has been Gigi. She is wacky and super fun to hand over the great throw-away lines to. I don't want to give anything away but one of my favorite lines that I wrote for her is when she realizes the police are at a party she's co-producing and she says to the one in charge, "Is this about that rude woman down at the permit department? I really don't usually use profanity or threaten anyone's safety as a general rule. It was just that she made me so mad..."  To which the policeman in charge quickly cut her off so she didn't divulge anything he couldn't ignore.

If you've read the book please let me know who your favorite character is in the Comments section below.

Happy reading!
